Keanu Reeves to star in ‘Kill Current’ CIA thriller

Keanu Reeves is set to star in and produce the film adaptation of ‘Kill Current: A Jon Hendricks Thriller’, based on the upcoming novel by Oliver Lowe. The project marks the first film from Two Dragonflies, a new production banner founded by Reeves and Alexandra Grant to develop stories across various media including film, television, and literature.

The Arena, an independent studio founded by Erik Feig, has preemptively acquired the rights to the property and will finance and produce the film. The story follows Jon Hendricks, a burned-out CIA officer who is drawn back into action to avenge a lost protégé. The plot is described as a high-stakes, globe-spanning thriller involving contemporary themes such as global supply chains, semiconductors, and technological warfare.

Notably, the film adaptation is moving forward ahead of the source material, which is not scheduled for publication by Zando until May 2027. The production involves executive producer Molly Stern and her publishing firm, Zando.
