Kearny Prevention Coalition receives $125,000 federal grant

U.S. Representative Nellie Pou has secured a $125,000 federal grant for the Kearny Prevention Coalition Drug-Free Communities Support Project. The funding is provided through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Drug-Free Communities Support Program.

The grant is intended to support the coalition’s ongoing efforts to prevent and reduce substance use among young people and families. This award serves as a continuation of federal support for the program, which has a project period extending through September 2027.

Kearny Mayor Carol Jean Doyle emphasized the importance of federal support in the fight against drug dependence and abuse. The CDC’s National Center for Injury Prevention and Control administers the program, which provides resources to community coalitions across the United States.
