Kebbi Federal High Court convicts 19 for terrorism and firearms offences
A Federal High Court in Birnin Kebbi has convicted 19 individuals for various offences, including terrorism-related activities, unlawful possession of firearms, and electricity cable vandalism.
Among those sentenced for terrorism-related offences, Aliyu Hadari and Umar Musa Uzzi each received 15-year prison terms. The court found they provided logistical support to terrorists and conspired to commit terrorism. They were intercepted in a vehicle allegedly intended to transport abducted persons to a forest hideout. The judge ordered the forfeiture of the vehicle and a motorcycle to the Federal Government.
Additionally, 11 people were convicted of unlawful possession of firearms, with sentences ranging from two to six years. This group includes Ripin Liu, a Chinese national sentenced to six years after being found with a Beretta pistol. Other convictions included individuals caught with locally fabricated weapons or entering the country illegally with firearms.
Separate proceedings also resulted in convictions for six individuals involved in stealing and damaging electricity cables in the Sakaba area of Kebbi State.
