Kebbi Governor approves new allowances for primary school teachers
Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has approved a new salary structure and responsibility allowances for all primary school teachers in the state. The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Kebbi chapter commended the move, describing the adjustment as historic for northern Nigeria and a significant step toward revamping primary education.
Speaking at the National Conference of Delegates of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, Governor Idris stated that his administration maintains up-to-date payments for salaries, pensions, and gratuities across state and local government levels. He noted that the government has absorbed over 5,000 professional workers, including teachers and medical personnel, into the permanent civil service to end casualization. Additionally, the administration has recruited approximately 6,144 civil servants to strengthen the workforce and has scaled up budgetary allocations to renovate or furnish over 2,000 schools.
