Kebbi Governor plans military base in Bagudo to tackle banditry
Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has announced plans to establish a military base in the Bagudo Local Government Area to combat persistent banditry and insecurity. The decision follows recent attacks on local communities, including the death of the Village Head of Lafagu. Governor Idris expressed his commitment to working with security agencies to flush out bandits and facilitate the safe return of internally displaced persons to their ancestral homes.
In a separate development regarding the 2027 elections, Accord Party governorship candidate Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Bunza has pledged to use Islamic injunctions to address banditry and kidnapping in the state. Bunza also proposed a minimum monthly wage of N500,000 for state workers to improve welfare and combat economic hardship.
