Kebbi High Court Judge Faruku Hassan Bunza Abducted by Gunmen

Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza of the Kebbi State High Court was abducted from his residence in the Bunza area of Kebbi State, northern Nigeria, in the early hours of Sunday. The judge had recently returned from Sokoto when armed men, described as bandits, stormed his home on Zogirma Road, shouted, fired sporadically and seized him without harming other household members.

The Kebbi State police, led by Commissioner Umar Muhammad Hadejia, immediately deployed tactical and intelligence teams to locate the judge, combing forested areas and other likely hide‑outs. A senior official of the Kebbi High Court called the incident a painful blow to the judiciary and confirmed that the court is coordinating with security agencies to secure his release. No ransom demands or further details have been released as the rescue operation continues.
