Kebbi State remits N21.5bn to NAHCON for 2027 Hajj

The Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Agency has remitted N21.5 billion to the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to facilitate the 2027 Hajj pilgrimage. This payment covers the fares for 3,257 intending pilgrims, making Kebbi the Nigerian state with the highest number of registered pilgrims for the upcoming cycle.

Agency Chairman Faruk Enabo reported that the state has achieved 95 per cent registration and 85 per cent remittance of total Hajj fares. An additional N5 billion is expected to be remitted soon to meet the September 26 deadline established by Saudi Arabian authorities. To ensure compliance with international standards, the agency is also conducting medical screenings at local, zonal, and state levels.

Governor Nasir Idris commended NAHCON for its leadership and improvements in pilgrim airlift operations. The timely remittance is intended to secure necessary slots and services in Makkah and Madinah while mitigating risks of logistical delays or price increases in the international travel market.
