Kecskemét Deputy Mayor Tamás Homoki announces resignation

Tamás Homoki, the deputy mayor of Kecskemét, has announced his resignation after 12 years in office. His departure is set to take effect on October 22, following the next city council meeting.

To ensure a smooth transition and maintain city operational capacity, Homoki will continue his duties until the October meeting. He has offered to provide pro bono expertise through his law firm to assist the city in areas such as transport development, urban operations, law enforcement, and corporate supervision, should the city hall require it.

In his resignation statement, Homoki addressed potential conflicts of interest regarding his son, Balázs Homoki, who provides legal services to municipal companies at market rates. To maintain independence, his son has initiated a request for a full, independent professional and ethical review of those existing contracts.

Mayor Klaudia Szemereyné Pataki acknowledged the resignation and thanked Homoki for his service. Due to legal regulations, the city will not appoint a new deputy mayor; instead, the remaining four deputies will review the redistribution of responsibilities and structural changes.
