Kecskemét hosts 17th Wandering Choir Meeting

The 17th Wandering Choir Meeting took place in Kecskemét on October 10, 2026, at the Szent-Györgyi Albert Technikum. Hosted by the MEDrigál Choir of the Bács-Kiskun County Teaching Hospital, the event focused on the joy of communal singing rather than competition.

Five choirs participated in the gathering: the host MEDrigál Choir, the Lajosmizsei City Chamber Choir, the Kecskemét Kodály Zoltán Mixed Choir, the Izsák City Mixed Choir, and the Mithras Pedagógus Choir from Jánoshalma. The event coincided with World Mental Health Day, with organizers noting that collective singing can enhance a sense of belonging and emotional well-being.

The meeting concluded with all five choirs performing the ancient Irish blessing, ‘Simuljon mindig’. The Mithras Pedagógus Choir received the traveling trophy and will host the next gathering.
