Kecskemét Mayor announces municipal restructuring and austerity measures
Kecskemét Mayor Klaudia Szemereyné Pataki has announced a major restructuring of the city's municipal government to ensure sustainable and transparent operations amid a changing economic and political environment. The plan focuses on austerity measures, starting with the reduction of the number of deputy mayors. Following the resignation of Tamás Homoki, the Mayor proposes reducing the current five deputy mayors to just one, with Jakabné Engert assisting during the transition period.
The restructuring also targets the city's committee system, proposing a reduction from seven committees to four. Additionally, the Mayor intends to review the advisory system and evaluate the necessity of various municipal institutions and companies to rationalize spending in response to tightening budget resources. These changes follow recent political challenges and controversies within the local administration.
