Kecskemét school to undergo 1.2 billion forint renovation

The Lánchíd Utca Sports Primary School in Kecskemét is set to undergo a major renovation project totaling nearly 1.2 billion forints. The multi-stage development includes the reconstruction of the gymnasium and sports field, as well as a complete renovation of the school building itself.

Supported by the Hungarian Handball Federation, work on the gymnasium's roof slab reconstruction is already underway and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. Additionally, the school's sports field is being upgraded with a flexible rubber coating to accommodate various sports, including football, handball, basketball, and volleyball, with a target completion date also in late 2026.

Further developments focus on climate-conscious environmental changes. Using domestic and EU funds, the school's surroundings will be redesigned to include rain gardens, water-permeable surfaces, and two 25-cubic-meter rainwater storage tanks. Construction for these environmental improvements is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2027.
