Kecskemét to host literary and historical commemorations
Various commemorative events are scheduled in Kecskemét, Hungary, to honor literary figures and historical martyrs.
On September 19, 2026, the Kadafalvi harvest and village days will feature a speech by Father József Holczer. The event will mark the bicentenary of the birth of Pál Gyulai, a prominent writer, poet, and literary historian who had historical connections to Kecskemét.
Additionally, on October 6, 2026, a memorial service will be held in the Nyíri Forest to honor the martyrs of the 1848–49 Revolution and War of Independence. Organized by the 1848–49 War of Independence Foundation and KEFAG Kiskunsági Erdészeti és Faipari Zrt., the ceremony will include speeches by historians, musical performances, and a wreath-laying ceremony at the memorial site of the Arad martyrs and László Szulyovszky.
