Kecskeméti Fürdő faces bacterial contamination concerns

Serious bacterial contamination has been detected in several pools at the Kecskeméti Fürdő following an official inspection. According to reports from the Bács-Kiskun County Government Office, E. coli was found in two medicinal pools, with measurements of 12 and 18 against a permitted limit of zero. Additionally, the warming pool tested positive for Pseudomonas aeruginosa, showing a value of 300 where the limit is zero.

Attila Csőszi, a Member of Parliament from the Tisza Party, has issued an open letter to Mayor Klaudia Szemereyné Pataki demanding answers. Csőszi raised concerns regarding the delay in response, noting that while samples were taken on July 21, the affected pools were not closed until August 7 under the guise of technical reasons. He argued that the infection levels likely increased exponentially during this period.

Health risks associated with the findings include intestinal and urinary tract infections from E. coli, as well as potential pneumonia and wound infections from Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which can be difficult to treat due to antibiotic resistance.
