Kedah immigration authorities detain 28 undocumented migrants
Kedah immigration authorities detained 28 undocumented foreign nationals during an enforcement operation known as Ops Sapu. The operation targeted four premises in the Jitra and Pokok Sena areas, including workers’ quarters at a housing development site and several other locations.
The detainees, consisting of 25 men, two women, and one child, include 12 Myanmar nationals, 15 Indonesian nationals, and 12 Bangladeshi nationals. Authorities identified suspected offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63, specifically relating to entering or remaining in Malaysia without a valid permit and overstaying.
The individuals have been transferred to the Belantik Immigration Depot in Sik, Kedah, for further investigation and processing.
