KEDAK conducts search and rescue drill in forested terrain

The Keşan Natural Disaster Search and Rescue Association (KEDAK) conducted a comprehensive field search and rescue drill in a forested area to test its capabilities following its AFAD accreditation.

The simulation involved a scenario where two individuals were reported missing in vast, rugged terrain. KEDAK teams practiced coordination, navigation, GPS usage, systematic terrain scanning, and team safety protocols. During the exercise, teams successfully located the first missing person before continuing the search to find the second, completing the drill successfully.

KEDAK Chairman Gökhan Yumuşak emphasized that search and rescue efforts are not limited to earthquake and rubble sites but are equally vital for incidents such as people becoming lost or stranded in nature. The association intends to continue training in urban and field search and rescue, debris removal, disaster awareness, communication, first aid, and fire emergency scenarios.
