Kedarnath trek route blocked near Chirbasa helipad after heavy rain
Heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand has caused debris and stones to accumulate near the Chirbasa helipad, blocking the Kedarnath pedestrian trek route. The Rudraprayag district administration reported that the blockage occurred following rainfall on Friday night.
To ensure pilgrim safety, authorities have temporarily halted movement toward Shri Kedarnath Dham. Pilgrims are currently being held at Sonprayag and Gaurikund. The District Emergency Operation Centre (DEOC) has notified the Junior Engineer and the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) in Guptakashi regarding the situation.
Cleanup operations to remove the debris are scheduled to begin once weather conditions improve. Local authorities have requested that pilgrims follow all administrative instructions and refrain from unnecessary travel until the path is cleared and conditions normalize.
