Kediri receives health program award while social aid recipients face gambling scrutiny
Kediri City has been recognized as one of only five municipalities in East Java to receive an award for its achievements in the National Health Insurance (JKN) program. The award, presented by BPJS Kesehatan Kediri Branch Head Tutus Novita Dewi to Mayor Vinanda Prameswati, honors the city's success in membership coverage and contribution payment compliance for 2026.
In a separate development in Kediri Regency, authorities have identified 6,245 social assistance (bansos) recipients as being potentially affiliated with online gambling activities. This figure represents approximately 10 percent of active Program Keluarga Harapan (PKH) recipients.
As of now, only about 1,000 recipients have filed appeals against the suspension of their aid. Challenges in the appeals process include administrative requirements, such as the necessity to provide written statements and proof of closure for bank accounts linked to gambling activities.
