Keele Greece Rector Odysseas Zoras resigns amid criticism of Ministry of Education

Odysseas Zoras has resigned from his position as Rector of the private university Keele Greece. The institution's administration has accepted his resignation, appointing Konstantinos Arkoumanis, a Professor Emeritus of Mechanical Engineering at University College London and member of the Academy of Athens, to serve as interim Rector.

In statements regarding his departure, Zoras criticized the Greek Ministry of Education, alleging that the political leadership has systematically undermined academic work through inertia and inconsistency in implementing the legislative framework for non-state universities. He stated that the state failed to provide the institutional stability it promised, leaving institutions and students in a state of legal uncertainty. Zoras further noted that recent decisions by the Council of State highlighted significant gaps in the existing institutional framework.
