Keele University to Open Medical School in Athens by October 2026

Keele University has submitted a formal application to Greece’s National Authority for Higher Education (EΘΑΑΕ) to establish a new medical school in Athens. The institution plans to launch the five‑year MBChB programme in October 2026. The programme, ranked among the top five UK medical courses by the Guardian University Guide 2026, will follow a problem‑based learning model and incorporate artificial‑intelligence tools, precision‑medicine techniques, research components, bioethics and legal studies.

The school’s leadership team includes President Odysseas Zoras, Dean Konstantinos Simopoulos, Chair Georgios Chrouso and Vice‑Chair Konstantinos Gourgoulianis. Significant investment is earmarked for digital anatomy resources, three‑dimensional printing of anatomical models, high‑fidelity clinical simulation labs and clinical skills workshops, aiming to bring a leading British medical education model to Greece.
