Tennessee football defeats Alabama as Neyland Stadium sets decibel record

The No. 11 Tennessee Volunteers secured a 26-10 victory over the Alabama Crimson Tide at Neyland Stadium, a win that has propelled the Volunteers into serious College Football Playoff contention. Following the victory, ESPN updated its power rankings, moving Tennessee up seven spots to No. 12.

During the game, Neyland Stadium recorded a scientifically verified peak of 130.3 decibels, marking the highest crowd noise level ever measured in college football history. The noise event occurred in the third quarter following a Tennessee sack, contributing to a series of pre-snap penalties for Alabama.

In the aftermath, Alabama offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb took responsibility for the team's offensive struggles, noting the unit gained only 201 total yards. The Crimson Tide, facing back-to-back losses to Georgia and Tennessee, have entered “playoff mode” as they prepare to host Texas A&M to maintain their postseason hopes.
