Keelung City and Huilai Industrial Park spur AI data center and industrial hub development in Taiwan

The Keelung municipal government has invited Taiwan Fertilizer Co. to jointly redevelop a 14.21‑hectare former fertilizer plant site into an AI data and computing centre. The location offers strong transport links, proximity to a power plant and a commitment from the state electricity utility to support a dedicated AI data‑centre zone. City Mayor Hsieh Kuo‑liang stressed the need for environmental remediation and a regular consultative mechanism to ensure the project aligns with public‑interest and sustainable employment goals.

In central Taiwan, the Huilai Industrial Park in Changhua County is being marketed as a new engine for industrial clustering. Leveraging the AI boom, the park promotes investment in semiconductor, high‑performance computing, AI server and smart‑manufacturing sectors. The park’s advantages include direct access to major highways and the high‑speed rail, facilitating links with the central science park and surrounding supply chains. Companies such as NVIDIA have signalled deeper Taiwanese commitments, and a range of biotech, food‑tech and precision‑manufacturing firms are already considering the park for R&D and production facilities. Both initiatives aim to upgrade Taiwan’s industrial base and capture growth in the global AI supply chain.
