Keelung City runs low‑carbon senior heat‑adaptation workshops and 19th forest‑trail health walk
The Keelung City Environmental Protection Bureau organised four low‑carbon sustainability and climate‑change adaptation workshops for senior residents across the Sandzi, Xiaode, Zhongshan Minzhi Union and Xiaoxian neighbourhoods. More than 120 participants took part, with retired National Taiwan Ocean University professor Lin Yong‑fu delivering talks on heat‑related illnesses, preventive measures (stay cool, hydrate, stay alert) and emergency response steps (shade, remove clothing, cool, water, seek medical care).
On 26 May the city hosted the 19th annual Da Sha Wan forest‑trail health walk. Mayor Hsieh Kuo‑liang attended, highlighting recent municipal achievements such as top national traffic‑safety rankings, new indoor children’s playgrounds, and the upcoming "Chang‑le 65" welfare programme that will distribute NT$6,500 to residents during major festivals. The walk promoted the four core themes of net‑zero living, energy saving, mountain‑environment protection and community health. Officials also announced the near‑completion of a new city athletics stadium with 24‑hour parking to further support public recreation.
