Keely Hodgkinson faces kit restrictions for 2028 Olympics

Olympic 800m champion Keely Hodgkinson may be unable to wear her specialized Nike gear during the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics due to Team GB sponsorship regulations.

At a recent Athlos tournament in London, the 24-year-old athlete won the 800m race wearing a unique Nike 'Zero-Distraction Speed Suit.' The black bodysuit, inspired by Cathy Freeman’s iconic 2000 Sydney Olympics attire, covers most of the body from hands to heels but features an open back. While Hodgkinson noted the suit was designed for both comfort and style, the outfit has sparked discussion regarding its aesthetic.

Despite the suit's performance benefits, Team GB maintains a long-term partnership with Adidas. Under these regulations, British athletes are required to wear official Adidas team apparel during the Olympics, with exceptions typically reserved for technical gear. Unless Adidas produces a similar model or specific exceptions are made, Hodgkinson may be restricted from using the Nike equipment during the upcoming Games.
