Keely Hodgkinson wins Athlos 800m in innovative Nike speedsuit

Olympic 800m champion Keely Hodgkinson secured a dominant victory at the inaugural Athlos meet in London, winning with a time of 1:56.40. The all-female event, created by Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, took place at StoneX Stadium and featured a significant prize pot of over $1 million.

Beyond her performance, Hodgkinson drew intense attention for debuting a futuristic, all-black Nike speedsuit. Developed over the course of a year, the aerodynamic garment features a hood with a specific ponytail cut-out, an open back, and 3D-printed “vortex generators” designed to reduce drag. Hodgkinson described the suit as a “mixture of fashion, speed and science” that could represent the future of athletics.

The suit’s design drew comparisons to Cathy Freeman’s iconic outfit from the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Winners at the event were awarded custom Tiffany & Co. crowns instead of traditional medals. Other notable performances at the meet included Sha’Carri Richardson winning the 100m in 10.80 seconds and Gabby Thomas winning the 200m.
