Keely Hodgkinson withdraws from Diamond League 800m in Zurich

Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson has withdrawn from the upcoming Weltklasse Zürich Diamond League meeting. The British athlete was scheduled to compete in a highly anticipated women’s 800m race, which was expected to feature a major rematch against Switzerland’s undefeated Audrey Werro.

Hodgkinson cited physical readiness as the reason for her absence, stating, “Unfortunately, the body isn't quite ready to race again after the European championships, so we've made the decision to skip this race and get ready for the next one.”

Despite Hodgkinson's withdrawal, the race remains a premier event for the final regular Diamond League meeting of the season. The field includes Audrey Werro, Femke Broeders-Bol of the Netherlands, reigning world champion Lilian Odira of Kenya, and Georgia Hunter Bell of Great Britain. Werro enters the competition as a favorite following a recent record-breaking performance in Lausanne.
