Keeneland Fall Meet Irad Ortiz Jr. Breeders’ Cup qualifiers horse racing graded stakes

The Keeneland Fall Meet begins Friday, October 2, featuring several “Win and You’re In” qualifying races for the Breeders’ Cup. The opening weekend includes eight qualifying stakes races with total purses exceeding $4 million.

Jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. is scheduled to return to racing this Friday following a hiatus caused by a foot injury involving seven small fractures. Ortiz is slated to ride seven horses, including Nakatomi in the Phoenix Stakes (G2) and Monique En Vol in the Jessamine (G2).

Key races for the weekend include the Phoenix Stakes (G2), the Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity (G1), and the Million Coolmore Turf Mile (G1). Television coverage for the event will be provided by NBC Sports and FanDuel TV.
