KeeperPass launches open-source password manager using Google Drive
KeeperPass is an open-source password manager designed to mitigate the risks associated with centralized server and database attacks. Instead of relying on a dedicated server, the application encrypts data locally using AES-256-GCM—a method noted for its potential resistance to quantum computing attacks—and stores the encrypted files directly in a user's Google Drive.
By keeping encryption keys on the local device, the system aims to ensure that even in the event of a data breach at Google, the user's credentials remain secure. The software utilizes Argon2id for password hashing and includes browser extensions to facilitate ease of use.
