Keeta accuses 99Food of violating São Paulo court order
Keeta, the delivery platform owned by the Chinese company Meituan, has accused competitor 99Food of violating a São Paulo Court of Justice (TJSP) ruling. Keeta claims that 99Food is using new contract language with partner restaurants to effectively maintain the exclusion of its services, despite a September court decision that prohibited such "ban clauses."
Keeta alleges that in more than 45 identified cases, 99Food replaced explicit bans on Keeta with neutral-sounding wording that allows restaurants to choose only one additional platform, which Keeta argues serves as a practical veto against its market entry. The TJSP ruling established a fine of R$ 100,000 per contract in violation of the order.
In response, 99Food stated it is evolving its contracts to improve the partial exclusivity conditions currently practiced by the company, claiming these changes align with judicial guidelines.
