Keflavík Airport flight activity and new Israeli airline routes spark debate

Isavia has confirmed that an aircraft with registration N62FF landed at Keflavík Airport on the night of September 10, departing approximately 70 minutes later. While the airport operator confirmed the flight, they stated they do not possess information regarding the purpose of the trip.

BDS Iceland claims the aircraft is linked to deportation operations conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The organization alleges that four flights operated by Journey Aviation, which they connect to the deportation of Palestinians from the United States, have refueled at Keflavík this year. They specifically highlighted the September 10 flight as part of these activities.

Separately, the Israeli airline Arkia has announced plans to launch direct scheduled flights between Tel Aviv and Reykjavík starting in June 2027. This move has drawn criticism from media commentator Svala Magnea Ásdísardóttir, who raised concerns regarding national security and whether the Icelandic Transport Authority has granted the necessary permits. The commentator cited previous incidents involving Israeli soldiers in Iceland and the country's diplomatic stance on Palestine as reasons for caution.
