Kehlani and Monaleo discuss motherhood and career balance

Artists Kehlani and Monaleo participated in a Billboard ‘Like Minded’ conversation, presented in partnership with BetterHelp, to discuss the complexities of balancing motherhood with professional careers.

Kehlani, mother to daughter Adeya, spoke about the difficulty of maintaining a personal identity while navigating the pressures of being a working mother. She noted that before having her child, she had considered leaving the music industry, but now finds inspiration in her daughter.

Monaleo, who shares a son with Stunna 4 Vegas, addressed the societal pressure to be a ‘perfect mother.’ She emphasized the importance of admitting when one ‘drops the ball’ and noted that motherhood has made her more intentional regarding her musical output. The discussion, moderated by Gail Mitchell and featuring counselor Sonni Williams, also covered topics including mental health, boundaries, and perinatal wellness.
