Kehtna Parish announces candidates for 2026 beautiful homes competition
Kehtna Parish has announced five candidates for the 2026 Beautiful Homes of Kehtna Parish competition. The candidates, located in Pae, Ingliste, Keava, Selja, and Sooaluste, represent diverse styles ranging from traditional heritage sites with water elements to modern homesteads integrating solar energy, beekeeping, and forestry.
The competition is part of the long-standing ‘Eesti kaunis kodu’ (Estonia’s Beautiful Home) tradition, which dates back to 1936 and was revived by President Lennart Meri in 1997. A judging commission evaluated the properties based on their overall integrity, maintenance, landscaping, and integration with natural elements.
In Jõgevamaa, the importance of maintaining local heritage and homes was highlighted during celebrations on Estonian Independence Day. Local leaders emphasized the deep connection between people and the land, noting that the upkeep of homes and village environments serves as a vital link to national identity and future generations.
