Keidean Coleman trades from Brisbane Lions to Essendon
Keidean Coleman has completed a trade from the Brisbane Lions to Essendon during the final stages of the AFL trade period. The 26-year-old defender sought a fresh start to increase his playing time following three injury-plagued seasons that saw him manage only 15 senior games.
During the recruitment process, Essendon attempted to involve club legend Michael Long to assist in the pitch. However, Coleman noted that he missed Long’s calls because he was traveling by plane between Brisbane and Melbourne. Coleman expressed his intention to return the calls to the dual premiership champion soon.
As part of the move, Coleman met with Essendon coach Mark McVeigh and list manager Matt Rosa. The Katherine native was reportedly drawn to the club’s Indigenous history and the opportunity to play in major fixtures such as Dreamtime at the ‘G and Anzac Day.
