Keiko Fujimori denies links to consultant Fernando Cerimedo

Peruvian President Keiko Fujimori has denied any personal or professional relationship with Argentine political consultant Fernando Cerimedo. Speaking from Piura, Fujimori stated that Cerimedo did not participate in her party's 2026 electoral campaign and that she has no communication with him, despite his recent presence in Lima during her inauguration.

This denial contrasts with reports from migration records and testimony from Cerimedo's former partner, Nadia Beller. Beller claims Cerimedo met with a member of Fujimori's campaign team in Lima on the day of the presidential inauguration. Migration data also indicates Cerimedo traveled to Peru during the election period. Cerimedo is currently in preventive detention in Bolivia facing investigations for attempted femicide and alleged illicit enrichment.

Separately, the Cerimedo case has expanded to Chile, where prosecutors have opened an investigation into his potential involvement in Chilean electoral processes.

In domestic policy, Fujimori's administration is seeking expanded legislative powers from Congress to combat organized crime. The proposal includes reforms in intelligence, prison control, and the ability to expedite the expulsion of irregular migrants. However, the request has faced criticism from regional leaders who fear the austerity measures required to fund these security initiatives will lead to budget cuts for local governments and municipal services.
