Peruvian President Keiko Fujimori is facing a political scandal following revelations regarding her close relationship with Damián Valenzuela, an Argentine lawyer and investment promoter. After reports from the weekly magazine ‘Hildebrandt en sus Trece’ brought the connection to light, Fujimori admitted that Valenzuela served as an advisor during her electoral campaign.

Valenzuela, a 51-year-old from Tucumán, describes himself as a ‘wealth creator,’ but reports indicate his investment promotion companies face legal proceedings and sanctions for fraud in several countries, including judicial disputes related to his financial advisory activities in the United States.

While Fujimori has acknowledged Valenzuela as a friend and campaign advisor, she has declined to address the specific allegations regarding his history of fraud or the extent of his potential influence within her current administration. The controversy comes during the first month of her presidency.
