Tania Ramírez resigns from Derrama Magisterial board
Tania Ramírez has resigned from her position as the Ministry of Education's representative on the board of Derrama Magisterial. Her resignation follows reports of shared international travel between her and the Minister of Education, José Antonio Chang.
Investigations revealed that Ramírez and Chang traveled together on three occasions to Panama and the United States prior to her official appointment. Ramírez defended her actions, stating that her travels were part of official academic delegations for the Universidad de San Martín de Porres.
The controversy has prompted calls for accountability in the Peruvian Congress. Deputies Gina Duarte and Víctor Piñán have requested that Minister Chang appear before the Education Commission to explain the criteria used for the appointment and to ensure that meritocracy was upheld.
