Keiko Fujimori highlights naval capacity for El Niño response

During a ceremony at the SIMA Perú Callao Operations Center, Keiko Fujimori highlighted the strategic importance of the Armed Forces in the National Disaster Risk Management System. The event marked the official christening and launching of the Auxiliary Logistics Supply Ship B.A.P. ‘Chimbote’ (AAL-159) and the water placement of the submarine B.A.P. ‘Antofagasta’ (SS-32).

Fujimori emphasized that these new vessels enhance the country's ability to respond to climate emergencies, specifically the El Niño phenomenon. She noted that the capacity to transport cargo, fuel, water, food, vehicles, and personnel will strengthen the logistics of the Peruvian Navy and expand the state's presence along the coastline.
