Keimyung University Dongsan Medical Center secures 24 R&D projects

Keimyung University Dongsan Medical Center has secured 24 new projects in the 2026 second half Individual Basic Research Project, organized by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Research Foundation of Korea. This follows the selection of 12 projects in the first half of the year, demonstrating the institution's research competitiveness in both basic and clinical fields.

The selected researchers include seven faculty members from the College of Medicine and five from the College of Nursing. Over the next five years, they will receive research funding ranging from approximately 126 million KRW to 315 million KRW per project.

Key research topics include mechanisms regulating hepatocellular carcinoma progression in patients with obesity-related metabolic fatty liver, the development of exosome microRNA-based biomarkers for the early diagnosis of diabetic peripheral neuropathy, and the creation of gamification-based digital platforms to promote slow-aging mindsets in middle-aged women. Director Bae Jae-hoon stated that the center aims to continue building a research-friendly ecosystem to ensure clinical research leads to actual medical innovation.
