Keio Corporation to introduce standing service for Keio Liner

Keio Corporation will introduce a new standing service for its Keio Liner trains starting October 1, in response to passenger demand during weekday rush hours when trains are frequently full. The service will utilize divided simple seating spaces located opposite priority seats in cars 1 through 10 (excluding cars 5 and 7).

Standing tickets will be priced at 400 yen and must be purchased exclusively through the Keio Ticketless Service; they cannot be purchased via ticket machines, and passengers cannot upgrade from a standing ticket to a seated one on the same train. Advance reservations for service starting October 1 will begin on September 24.

Alongside this introduction, the company is revising its seat reservation fee structure. Moving away from a flat rate, prices will now vary by day. For ticketless purchases, the fee will be 500 yen on weekdays and 400 yen on Saturdays and holidays. For purchases made at station ticket machines, the fee will be 600 yen on weekdays and 500 yen on Saturdays and holidays. Additionally, the Keio Point reward rate for payments made with registered Keio Passport cards via the ticketless service will increase from 1% to 2%.
