Keion White cleared to play after February shooting

San Francisco 49ers defensive end Keion White has confirmed he is ready to play following a shooting in February. The incident, which reportedly occurred in a San Francisco bar following an argument involving rapper Lil Baby, resulted in a gunshot wound to White’s foot that required surgery to repair a broken talus bone.

White noted the psychological difference between football injuries and such trauma, stating, “It’s different because it’s trauma instead of just, like, breaking an ankle with a sports-related injury.” He has since recovered and participated in training camp.

The shooting marks the second time a 49ers player has been shot in recent years, following a 2024 robbery attempt involving wide receiver Ricky Pearsall. These incidents, alongside other team setbacks including owner Jed York’s recent arrest and various player injuries, have drawn scrutiny from observers regarding the franchise's recent difficulties.
