Keir Mather appointed UK Minister for Maritime, Aviation and Logistics

Logistics UK has welcomed the appointment of Keir Mather as the Minister for Maritime, Aviation and Logistics. The business group stated that the expansion of Mather’s role recognizes the critical contribution of the logistics sector to the UK economy.

Ben Fletcher, Chief Executive of Logistics UK, noted that the industry contributes £175 billion in Gross Value Added (GVA) annually, employs 8% of the UK workforce, and enables over £1 trillion in international trade each year. Citing 2023 research from Oxford Economics, Fletcher highlighted that the sector has the potential to increase UK economic growth by an additional £8 billion per year.
