Keçiören announces new wrestling facility and World Championship plans

Keçiören Municipality has launched a program ahead of the 3rd Grand Traditional Karakucak Wrestling Festival and the Keçiören Seniors Karakucak Wrestling World Championship, scheduled for August 14-16, 2026.

During the launch, Keçiören Mayor Dr. Mesut Özarslan announced plans to build a modern, comprehensive facility known as the ‘New Er Meydanı’. This facility is intended to serve as a training and residential center for wrestlers to support the development of the traditional sport.

The upcoming international organization is expected to host approximately 1,400 wrestlers from 81 provinces across various categories, including children, stars, and youth, alongside representatives from traditional wrestling federations from 33 different countries.
