Mersin Metropolitan Municipality hosts open-air cinema in Tarsus

The Mersin Metropolitan Municipality brought open-air cinema to the district of Tarsus as part of its summer cultural program. Held in front of Ülker Aydın Park, the event featured a screening of the film ‘Hükümet Kadın’.

Attendees were provided with popcorn and lemonade during the screening. Başar Akça, the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Branch Manager for City Participation and Civil Society Relations, noted that the Mersin Cinema Office aims to make the city a hub for cinema by hosting screenings, talks, and workshops throughout the year.

Akça stated that the municipality is working to attract producers and directors to the region to encourage stories to be written and filmed in Mersin and its surrounding districts. Following the positive reception in Tarsus, the municipality plans to continue these open-air cinema events in other districts.
