Keçiören Municipality joins water efficiency mobilization

Keçiören Municipality has joined the Water Efficiency Mobilization led by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry to combat climate change and increasing water stress. The municipality has begun the application process for the ‘Blue Water Efficiency Certificate’ and is implementing the TS ISO 46001 Water Efficiency Management System across its service buildings and facilities.

A specialized Water Efficiency Team has been established to monitor water usage. Key initiatives include evaluating irrigation systems in parks and green spaces to implement pressurized and drip irrigation, and developing water recovery methods for ornamental pools and waterfalls to reduce evaporation.

The program also targets water consumption in sports complexes and swimming pools in the Kalaba and Aktepe regions, focusing on transitioning to efficient equipment. Additionally, the municipality will work to detect leaks in service buildings and expand the use of water-saving fixtures. To ensure long-term sustainability, the municipality will conduct awareness and training activities for its staff to foster a permanent culture of conservation.
