Keçiören Municipality signs EU Covenant of Mayors

Keçiören Mayor Dr. Mesut Özarslan has signed the European Union Covenant of Mayors – Europe, committing the municipality to environmental sustainability and climate resilience.

The agreement focuses on increasing energy efficiency, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and expanding the use of renewable energy to protect the city against the effects of climate change. By joining this international framework, Keçiören aims to elevate its local climate and energy initiatives to a global level.

Following the signing, the municipality will participate in the Covenant of Mayors ceremony in Brussels on October 15, 2026. This event is expected to facilitate new collaborations with European municipalities, allow for the sharing of successful environmental practices, and enable Keçiören to play a more active role in European Union programs and project partnerships.
