Keçiören to host Karakucak wrestling festival and World Championship
Keçiören Municipality will host a series of major traditional wrestling events from August 14 to August 16, 2026, at the Bağlum Şehit Hüseyin Demirtaş Stadium. The program includes the 3rd Grand Traditional Karakucak Wrestling Festival and the Keçiören Seniors Karakucak Wrestling World Championship.
The festival will feature competitions for minims, stars, and youth categories. Athlete weigh-ins are scheduled for August 14, 2026, starting at 16:00, with matches beginning on August 15. The international component, the World Championship, will feature athletes from 33 countries, including Turkey, competing for the title on August 16.
The event is organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Turkish Traditional Wrestling Federation, United World Wrestling (UWW), and World Ethnosport. The initiative aims to preserve traditional wrestling culture and pass it on to younger generations.
