Keith Thurman targets Sebastian Fundora's psychology and power
Former unified welterweight champion Keith Thurman has outlined a psychological and physical strategy for his upcoming WBC Super Welterweight title fight against Sebastian Fundora, scheduled for March 28, 2026.
Thurman intends to exploit Fundora’s psychological vulnerability following his May 2023 knockout loss to Brian Mendoza. Thurman believes that the memory of being knocked out will create a subconscious crisis of confidence in the champion when he is hit.
Beyond the mental aspect, Thurman emphasized that possessing one-punch power is the only realistic way to defeat Fundora. He noted that Fundora’s immense reach, stamina, and high work rate often force opponents into defensive shells, neutralizing their offense. Thurman also identified a technical opening, observing that Fundora frequently drops his hands instead of returning them to his chin during exchanges.
