Keito Nakamura may remain at Stade de Reims as €25 million fee blocks transfer
Stade de Reims chairman Jean‑Pierre Kayou said the Japanese midfielder Keito Nakamura could stay with the Ligue 2 club because the €25 million transfer fee demanded by the player’s representatives is hindering negotiations. Kayou noted, “We have presented financial conditions, and that can be a stumbling block in some negotiations.”
Clubs from France’s Ligue 1 (Olympique de Marseille) and England’s Premier League (Everton and Leeds United) have shown interest, but the set price remains a barrier. Nakamura, who failed to help Reims secure promotion last season, expressed a desire to leave, yet no agreement has been reached. The chairman added that if a mutually satisfactory solution is not found, the player may continue to play for Reims in the upcoming season.
