Kejaksaan Agung investigates Rp2 trillion tax corruption case

The Indonesian Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) has named two civil servants from the Directorate General of Taxes, identified as BP and SR, as suspects in a corruption case involving PT Toba Pulp Lestari Tbk (TPL). The suspects, who served as tax audit supervisors, are accused of facilitating illegal transfer pricing practices through under-invoicing pulp exports. Investigators allege the officials failed to perform proper oversight and accepted payments to manipulate tax audits, resulting in an estimated state loss of Rp2 trillion.

In a related leadership development, Saiful Bahri Siregar has been officially inaugurated as the Director of Investigation at the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus). He replaces Rinaldi Umar, who was previously slated for the role but was instead reassigned as the Deputy Head of the South Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office. The Attorney General's Office stated that the Dirdik position requires extensive experience in special crimes, a qualification met by Siregar, the former Head of the Bengkulu High Prosecutor's Office.
