Kejriwal and Sisodia urge Delhi HC to reject CBI challenge in excise case

Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia have approached the Delhi High Court to seek the dismissal of a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) petition. The CBI is challenging their discharge in the Delhi excise policy case.

In their applications, the leaders argued that the agency filed its revision petition with ‘unprecedented haste’ and in an ‘unserious manner,’ noting that the plea was submitted within just four hours of the trial court issuing its 549-page discharge order. They contended that the CBI failed to identify any specific findings in the original judgment that were ‘perverse’ or illegal, describing the agency's petition as ‘bare-shell’ and ‘non-specific.’

The trial court had previously discharged all 23 accused in the matter on February 27, 2026, following more than two months of detailed arguments. Justice Manoj Jain is scheduled to hear the CBI’s petition on August 17 and 18.
