Keke Palmer discusses experiences of motherhood

Actress Keke Palmer has shared insights into her experiences with motherhood and the emotional shifts that accompanied the birth of her son, Leodis. Palmer noted that while she initially lacked many fears, the realities of parenting and information encountered online have increased her concerns. She described the postpartum experience as something that ‘is actually not something that really ever ends,’ noting that while symptoms may decrease, the state of being postpartum persists.

Palmer emphasized the importance of a strong community and support system, finding connection with other mothers through her son’s school. She also reflected on the social challenges her son may face as the only Black child at his school, drawing parallels to her own childhood experiences.

Additionally, Palmer described herself as being ‘territorial’ as a mother, noting how her son has begun to mimic her protective language. She expressed her hope that Leodis learns to prioritize his own happiness and remains unafraid to evolve and change throughout his life.
